After another dry month in southwestern Colorado, the SCS Snow Survey
Unit estimated that at the end of February, the basin-wide snowpack statistics
for the Dolores and Animas drainages had dropped to 125 percent of average.
This was well under the 135 percent suspension criteria for the month of March.
However, after considering current water supply forecasts and wildlife feeding
problems, program sponsors requested that the 1983-1984 winter snowpack aug-
mentation program be terminated effective March 21st. No seeding operations
were conducted during March prior to the sponsors reaching this decision.

During the period November 24, 1983-December 20, 1983, Western Weather
Consultants, Inc. seeded five selected weather events covering portions of
nine days. The operations for the San Juan program amounted to 251.75 hours
of generator seeding time, which dispensed 2,432 grams of silver iodide.

The following table lists the individual seeding events and gives the
number of generators operated, the total number of seeding hours, the seeding
rate, and the total output of silver iodide in grams. This table is followed
by a presentation of precipitation events to seeding events with accompanying
changes in monthly snowcourse measurements. This presentation is provided for
informational purposes only, no quantitative statistical evaluation of the
seeding effects from this program will be attempted.
