8:35 p.m. By 8:56 p.m. the seeded storm eventuall.y merged with the
old storm near Hugoton (seeded earlierl, and a ~h~rd.sep~r~te, new
storm which had developed between them ~nthe ~nter~m per~od. All
seeding ended at 8:58 p.m. and planes were sent back to', base.

At 9:35 p.m. all planes were scr~led ~x~ept one cloud base
plane; a small NE-SW line of storms had ~ntens1f~ed acr~ss northern
part of Ford County,. the strongest part of the storm be1ng about 10
miles WNW of, Spearville. Seeding fo~ hail at clo~d ba~e began in
northwest Ford County ,at 10:15 p.m. with a second start~nq~10:17
p.m. prior to seeding, and during seeding, the E-W line moved
almost easterly across northern Ford' County in. "train-effect"
fp~hion. one storm fOllowing another. New growth bu~lt on the south
side of the line, 'furth,er sou,th into Ford l~l)utl'Sy.Thenewer storms
also "trained" eastward through Ford. Copious'rainfall appears to
have been experienced in northern and eastern Ford. A third plane
began seeding for hail near Dodge City at 10:26 p.m. and a fourth
at 10:37 p.m.

The fifth cloud base plane was scrambled at 10:35 p.m. when it
looked like there was a loosely organized extension of a few new
storms building westward from Ford County into Gray, Haskell, Grant
and Kearny counties. One of the planes seeding in Ford County was'
diverted westward to them. At 11:30 the last cloud base plane
which was airborne found a vigorous new storm to seed for hail
,about 10 north of Sublette and at 12:06 a.m. was joined by the
'plane sent west earlier. Meanwhile, the other three cloud base
planes seeding in Ford County ended seeding at 11:35 p.m. as the
new growth, building steadily south, pushed all seeding planes out
of the target area through the southeast corner of Ford County. All
aircraft in Ford County began-returning to their bases. By 12:07
a.m. the storm being seeded north of Sublette had moved northeast
into southern Finney and weakened to the point that the two seeding
planes could return to their bases.
the line of storms in Ford County was sent westward and was able to
seed some storms across Gray, Haskell, Grant and Kearny counties
before returning to its base at 12:05 a.m.

One of the returning cloud base planes was diverted toa storm
a few miles south of Deerfield and began seeding there at 12:29
a.m. That storm was seeded for hail until 12:45 a.m. at which time
it had become much weaker. That aircraft then flew to check out a
NE-SWline of storms which had moved in from Colorado and which lay
on a line from Kendall to northwest Stanton County by 1: 15 a.m. No
seeding was performed due to the low radar intensities, observed and
weak updrafts found. . .
AUGUST 21st - OPERATIONAL DAY #68: A NW-SE oriented surface trough
lay across northwest ,Kansas late in the afternoon. By 6 p.m. an
isolated severe storm developed in north-central Wallace County to
which four clOUd base planes were scrambled. Seeding for.hail began
