,

through all of Wallace County and seeding ended at 8:28 p.m. After
that, seeding concentrated around western Scott County.

Meanwhile, more seeding had continued in west-central Hamilton
County, By 7:28 p.m. the north-south oriented surface trough/qust
front had moved to the Hamilton/Kearny County line continuing to
help intensify new storm growth in northern Kearny/southern Wiohita
counties. By 8:18 p.m, a new area behind where the trough/qust
front had passed began intensifying in southern Grant and western
Stevens counties. Lacking planes, at first, none could be sent
there. Interestingly, this new storm area organized into aNNE-SSW
line across Grant and Stevens and moved eastward into Haskell
County;.Indi.....,i.dually. ,et~rm cells mQvedNNE. Two morer:J.oud hase . ,
planes had to land for supplies at 8:02 p.m. and 8:25 p.m. and,
when airborne at 8:5B and 9:14 p.m., both were sent to line of
storms then around Haskell-Stevens County. Earlier, at 8:53 p.m.,
one plane had been diverted from the Scott County storm area to the
Haskell-Stevens storms. The cloud top plane, airborne at 8:59 p.m.,
also flew to the Haskell-Stevens line and seeded intermittently
from around 9:45 p.m. to 10:12 p.m. before returning to Dodge City.
Cloud base seeding near Stevens County began at 9:43 p.m. with two
resupplied planes working south of the southwest corner of Stevens.
The third plane, diverted earlier from Scott County, began seeding
in southeastern Stevens 9:46 p.m. As seeding continued along the
line for hail, however, after nearly a half-hour updrafts weakened;
all seeding ending at 10:12 p.m.

Two more planes had to land for supplies: one at 9:25 p.m.,
the second at 9:29 p.m. A resupplied plane, airborne from Scott
City at 10:00 p.m., was diverted to a separate storm in northern_
Lane County at 10:10 p.m., however, by the time it arrived, it had
moved north to the edge of the county, so no seeding was done and
the plane went back to its base.

Priprto two planes landing, they were diverted to northeast
'Stanton County to check new storms. The aircraft, base~in Johnson
found updrafts and seeded only between 11:03 and 11:11 'p.m. before
returning to base. However, before the second plane could land at
11:30:p.m" it was diverted back to western Stevens County to meet
a new line of storms, oriented north-south, laying just west of
Stevens. A second plane was also scrambled at 11:36 p.m. Seeding
first began in southwestern Stevens at midnight and continued until
12:15 a'm" at which time updrafts and radar intensities both were
much lower. Both planes returned to base at 12:20 a.m., the second
plane having done no seeding.

JULY 19th - OPERATIONAL DAY ~46: A late afternoon 4-plane scramble
was canceled except for one plane sent to a separate weak storm in
southeast Lane County. However, with dusk approaching, the storm
weakened and the flight 'could be terminated. Other late afternoon
storms built along a surface trough which passed east of us in the
early morning hOurs which ran from central Kansas southwegt'to just
east of Ford County then further southwest toward Liberal. Later,
at 10:40 p,m., four cloud base planes were scrambled to storms
