JULY 6th - OPERATIONAL DAY *38: By 3:50 p.m. a single storm had
begun developing vigorously just east of the east-central Ford
County. All planes, except one cloud base plane, were scrambled,
but it was scrambled at 4:18 p.m. New storm growth was creating 4
storm cluster growing, strongly on its west and southwest side.
Seeding for hail began at cloud base at 4:38 p.m. Others joined in
at 4:40, 4:53 and 4:58 p.m, The cloud top plane began seeding at
5:05 p.m. All cloud base seeding ended at 5:30 p.m. At cloud top
seeding was intermittent until 5:51 p.m. when the cells collapsed
into weaker showers. Planes began returning to their bases at 5:35
p.m, Some hail sizes (diameters) reported to the National Weather
Service falling in east-central Ford were 3/4 inch tol inch.

JUNE 7th - OPERATION~ DAY *39: At midnight all fiv~ clQ~dba~e
planes were scrambled to meet an east-southeast moving line' of
storms moving into northwestern Wallace County. Seeding began by
one plane at 12:29 a.m., others assisted at 12:34, 12:38 and 12:50,
respec~ively. Seeding was east-west along the northern part of the
County until 1:18 a.m. at which time the hail threat had diminished
and storms had moved away out of the ,target area.

Later in the afternoon, a single storm began forming just
north of Lane County. At 4:25 p.m. all aircraft were scrambled to
the storm, including the cloud top plane. Unfortunately, the on-
board radar system of the cloud top plane was inoperative limitinq
its seeding effectiveness. Seeding began at 4:55 p.m. Others joined
seeding at 5:01, 5:11, 5:18 and 5:26 p,m" respectively. The cloud
top plane began seeding at 5:50 p.m. The storm remained nearly
stationary and continued growing larger with time developing into
a supercell. Then, between 5:37 and 5:44 p,m., it moved 6outh-
southeasterly into north-central and central Lane County. Multiple _
distinct hail-bearing cores were observed in northern Lane County
on radar at 5:58 p.m. Heavy seeding was performed on it as it
moved into east-central Lane. simultaneously" a WNW-ESE oriented
line of severe storms were building on the edge of northeastern
Wallace County, running ESE across northern Logan and northern Gove
counties. Two planes 'tlere sent in for resupply and' fuel at 7; 13
p.m. By 7:20 p.m. the heavily-seeded supercell was considerably
weaker, indicated fewer hail-cores and had moved into east-central
Lane near the county line. Then, the three cloud base planes which
were seeding it were sent to work east-west along the line just
north of the target area counties of Wichita, Scott and Lane. The
cloud top plane continued mopping up the Lane stOrIn, seeding
intermittently until 7:24 p.m,

At 7:32 p.m. these three remaining planes began concentrating
on the part of the E-W line of storms from southwest Gove west into
southeast Logan, north of Lane and Scott counties. At 7:36 p,m. one
plane ran out of'seeding agent in one of its generators; at 7:50
p.m. its second generator was dryas well. Another plane was down
to one generator at 8:05 p.m. High radar reflectivities were seen
at 7:40 p.m. in northern Wallace County, but could not be responded
to due to reduced seeding capability,
