<br />RECORD OF DECISION <br />ON AN ApPLlCATIONFOR A <br />WEATHER MODIFICATION PERMIT <br /> <br />APPUCANT: <br /> <br />Lawrence M. Hjermstad, President <br />Western Weather Consultants, Inc. <br />P.O. Box 58 <br />Durango, Colorado 81301 <br /> <br />DATE OF APPLICATION: August 2,2000 <br /> <br />PROJECT: Commercial seeding operation of winter storm clouds with ground <br />based cloud nuclei generators to augment snow for enhanced <br />operation of the Vail and Beaver Creek ski areas and for enhancement <br />of runoff for irrigation purposes. <br /> <br />TARGET AREAS: The target areas include portions of Township 5 South, Range 80 <br />West, Sixth Principal Meridian (6th PM), located south of Vail and <br />portions of Townships 5 and 6 South, Ranges 81 and 82 We3t, <br />6thPM, located south of Avon in the eastern part of Eagle County, <br />Colorado. <br /> <br />DURATION: During the first year of operation, applicant has proposed to begin <br />operations on November 1, 2000 and continue for five months <br />through March 31, 2001. <br /> <br />PERSON IN CHARGE: The person in charge of the project is Lawrence M. Hjermstad of <br />Western Weather Consultants, Inc., of Durango, Colorado. <br /> <br />PERMIT SOUGHT: An original permit pursuant to \)36-20-112, CRS, for a time period of <br />ten years' duration pursuant to 936-20-114, CRS. The applicant has <br />continuously held a weather modification permit for the Vail target <br />area since February 1977. <br /> <br />ACTION TO BE TAKEN: The findings will be the basis for a decision to either grant the permit, <br />grant the permit subject to conditions, or deny the permit. <br /> <br />DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY <br /> <br />This application was acted upon by the Director of the Colorado Water Conservation Board <br />pursuant to the delegation of authority by the Executive Director of the Colorado Department of <br />Natural Resources since September 25, 1987 and reaffirmed August 25,2000. <br /> <br />2 <br />
