<br />NOTICE OF INTENT
<br />TO CONDucr CLOUD SEEDING OVERFUGHTS
<br />
<br />Notieeis hereby given that Colorado International Corporation
<br />of Delaf.-are of 2851 Valmont, P.O. Box 3007, Boulder, Colorado
<br />80307, hereinafter referred to as "Applicant" has filed with the
<br />Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Natural
<br />Resources an application for a permit to conduct cloud seeding
<br />overflights within the State of Colorado and within the areas
<br />hereinafter more specifically stated. The Applicant shall conduct
<br />such overflights for and on behalf of the Western Kansas
<br />Groundwater District #1, P.O. Box 604, Scott City, Kansas 67871.
<br />Mr. Ralph Papania, Jr., who holds Colorado Weather Modification
<br />License No. 28 will be in control of the cloud seeding project.
<br />The primary target of the cloud seeding project is within the
<br />Western Kansas counties of Stanton, Hamilton, Greeley, Wallace,
<br />Wichita, Kearny, Grant, Haskell, Finney, Scott, Lane, Gray,
<br />Hodgeman and Ford. In order to carry out the cloud seeding
<br />operations in these Kansas couties. it is necessary for the seeder
<br />aircraft under some circumstances to cross the Colorado State
<br />boundary.
<br />A permit is hereby sought for the seeder aircraft to overfly the
<br />Colorado State boundary by approximately 20 miles along the
<br />eastern portion of Baca, Prowers, Kiowa, Cheyenne and Kil
<br />Carson counties.
<br />The expected duration of the Kansas cloud seeding project anc!
<br />the Occasional Colorado overflights for whieh this permit is sough'
<br />~s April 20 to September 15, 1978.
<br />There is no intent to modify the weather in Colorado. The:
<br />intended effect of the cloud seeding operations is to suppress hai
<br />and augment rainfall in the Western Kansas counties.
<br />Copies of the permit application have been sent to the Count)
<br />Commissioners office at each of the five counties. Complete
<br />details of the operations to be conducted by the Applicant arc
<br />available on request from the Applicant. or from the Executive
<br />Director of the Department of Natural Resources, 1845 ShermaJ
<br />Street, Room 718. Denver. Colorado 80203.
<br />A public hearing on the application for a permit to co~duct thl
<br />proposed overflights will be held at 9:30 o'clock A.M. on April 18
<br />1978. in the Council Room Lamar City Complex. 104 E. Parmente
<br />Street, Lamar. Colorado.
