8.0 METHODS OF EVALUATION

Although the scope and design of the proposed operational
program does not make provisions for extensive evaluation of
seeding results, storm and operating data will be retained in
a form suitable for later analysis. .

8.1 Data used to Monitor Day of Day Operations

a. Seeder aircraft track and seeding location will
be recorded for later correlation with storm tracks
b. Each pilot will record on a flight form and verb-
ally infQ~m the project director of:
1) Engine start - stop time (Greenwich Mean Time);
altitude; temperature; material used.
2) All changes of direction of 15 degrees or more.
3) A 11 changes in amounts of material being dispensed
4) Location at least every 15 minutes.
5) Entry - exit time; location into and out of the
state of Colorado and oklahoma.
6) The on-top aircraft will furnish liquid water con-
tent and ice crystals reports, based on what the
pilot sees.
7) The cloud base aircraft will furnish up-draft
reports and gust fronts. Based on aircraft per-
formance and visual.
8) Plot the entire flight - showing seed and non-
_seed portions of flight - on the back of each
seeding form.

If the reports are not deliverable at the end of the
mission, they will be forwarded to Lakin by the next day's mail.
This is a must do item.

8.2 Data Collected for Research Analysis

Seeding locations and amounts will be recorded for
later correlation with the radar echo data.

continuous filming (8mm time lapse) on a remote PPI at
least one half hour after operations.

overlay every 20 minutes

All entries will be in Greenwich Mean Time and magnetic
direction.

8.3 Other Reports used to Monitor Seeding Effects

One of the important functions of the policy Board
members is to make continuing assessments of the impact of the
seeding program in their respective local communtiy. The
Project Director, will of course be responsive to any benefits
or disbenefits disclosed through the county board members.

State of Kansas Rainfall Reporters

Hail Loss Reports
