INTRODUCTION

In September, 1979, delegates from both Colorado's east and west slope got together in Denver for an
unprecedented Colorado Water Convention and agreed on common goals for future Colorado water
policy, From that historic convention came nine resolutions, including the following:

BE IT RESOL VED~ That it is the primary purpose of Ihis 1979 Colorado Water Convention to insure
that the limited remaining water resources of the State of ColQrado be developed under law for
beneficial use in this state, with special emphasis upon maximizing reservoir storage,

In the spirit of that resolution, many of the delegates met again in Denver on June 13, 1980, to take a
hard look at major proposed water storage and hydroelectric projects, "The Colorado Water Storage
Projects Overview," as it was called, was sponsored by three organizations which are concerned
about 8010rado's future raw water storage adequacy - the Colorado Water Congress and Water for
Colorado, both based in Denver, and Club 20, the Western Slope organization headquartered in Grand
Junction, The Overview brought together information useful to the state's water planners and
decision makers,

Twenty-three water projects were featured at the Overview, Summaries of each are presented here in
the hope that they will contribute to thoughtful decisions about Colorado water, the key to
tomorrow's quality of life,
