COLORADO BASIN

Basinwide Conditions Assessment
The SWSI value of -0.4 indicates that for May the
basin water supplies were near normal. The Natural
Resources Conservation Service reports that June 1
snowpack is 73% of normal. Fiow at the gaging station
Coiorado River near Dotsera was 3,238 cfs, as compared to
the long-term average of 4,395 cfs, Storage in Green
Mountain, Ruedi, and Williams Fork reservoirs totaled 131 %
of normal as of the end of May.
Precipitation was below average for the month of
May for the Colorado River basin, In addition, a period of
very warm temperatures melted much of the snowpack,
causing many streams to reach their peak early,

Outiook
NRCSflNWS forecasts for April-July stream flow
voiumes did not change significantly in May, with the entire
Colorado River basin at less than 80% of average. The
Colorado River near Dotsero stream flow is forecasted at
only 76% of average, The Colorado River near Cameo
stream flow is forecasted at 83% of average, Near average
stream flow (95%) is forecasted for the Roaring Fork River at
Glenwood Springs and above average stream flow is
predicted for Plateau Creek (157%),

Jun-05

~"-

~

w
o
,
~
"

~
c

"

<

. ..
Jor>.S6Jin.S7J.n.OO-lnffiJir>.UlJln{l1.1;o:;<<!-.ooJrHl4J1n.C6
-,~

cx:::t.(R,I{X) RIVER l\R OOTSERQ, FLON BY VIlA.TER YEAR

3,~,OCO

......... ."......,
V v
V
/
I------- r-
/ V
I~ V
~
I

3,0::0,(0)

.
.
~2,500,OCO
"
~2,COJ,OOJ
"
~ 1,500,COJ
~
i1,oco,00J
~
u

soo.em

o
()j: f\tN CO: Ja1 Fro MorctI.A;li1 Miy JI.IlEl jjy Alg Sep:

-&-1t\ET(19B4)

--rRY[.D(2)

~AVG

"*-=

REPRE5B'JTATlVi:: RESE.R\ORS

120,0:0

100,000

.
4! 00,(0)
"
.
.
g> 00,000
"
in
.
~ 40,(0)
~

",em

o

QeEnM:u1a'n

"'"

WlliarnFork

_A"9-05'31Ca1Er1s

.CfI31IOOCcrtenls

7
