<br />Colorado <br />Water Availability Task Force <br /> <br />TO: Members of the Colorado Water Availability TaskForce <br /> <br />FROM: Brad Lundahl, Water Availability Task Force Chair <br /> <br />DATE: February 26, 2003 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Minutes of the Wednesday, February 19,2003, Task Force Meeting <br /> <br />The meeting was held on Wednesday, February 19, 2003, at Camp George West, Golden. <br />Those in recorded attendance included: Brad Lundahl, Jack Byers, Bill Hansen, <br />JeffTranel, Keith Vander Horst, Klaus Wolter, Bob Glancy, Mike Gillespie, <br />Dawn Taylor, Jack Truby, JeffBrislawn, Bob Steger, Scott Archer, Roger Pielke, Sr., <br />Brett N. Rodewald, Carolyn Armstrong, Marilyn Gaily, John Gordon, Jerd Smith, <br />Theo Stein, Brad Udall, Aimee Heckel, Robert Webb, Kevin Riordan, Paul Flack, and <br />Kathie Lucid. <br /> <br />Meeting began at 1:07 P.M. <br /> <br />Brad Lundahl. Colorado Water Conservation Board. W ATF Chair <br />Brad Lundahl welcomed the group to the meeting with opening remarks. He set the April <br />Water Availability TaskForce meeting date (April 23, 10:00 am). Mr. Lundahl reported <br />that the Impact Task Force had met during the previous week and were given <br />assignments to prepare a report to identify drought impacts and describe possible <br />mitigation measures. Mr. Lundahl said he is hoping to have the fmal report ready in time <br />for the March 19 W A TF meeting. <br /> <br />Dawn Tavlor. Colorado Department of Natural Resources <br />Ms. Taylor stated that she was filling in for John Swartout, from the Governors Office. <br />She reported that the Governor had released his legislative water agenda on the previous <br />Friday. She provided copies ofthe Governors press release associated to the water <br />package. <br /> <br />Mike Gillespie. Natural Resource Conservation Service INRCS) <br />Mr. Gillespie explained that snowpack levels had declined from 85% during January to <br />71 % of average on February 1,2003. He stated that recent storms had brought current <br />levels to approximately 77% of average. The Arkansas Basin had seen an approximate <br />13% gain recently. Since 1968, there have been only six February's of recorded below <br />average snowpack. Mr. Gillespie also stated that our snowpack is presently above last <br />years at this same time and that we are ahnost where we were last year when we peaked <br />out. In fact, he said anything received after this date will make our snowpack better than <br />last year. <br />
