<br />South Platte Basin <br />The SWSI value (-1.4) indicates that for January the basin water supplies were slightly below <br />nonnal. Reservoir storage was 103% of normal at of the end of January. Storage levels in the <br />major plains reservoirs: Julesburg, North Sterling, and Prewitt are at 53% of capacity. <br />Cumulative storage in the major upper-basin reservoirs of Cheesman, Eleven Mile, Spinney, and <br />Antero is at 64% of capacity. <br /> <br />Arkansas Basin <br />SWSI value (-1.9) indicates that basin water supplies were below normal for January. Stream <br />flows at the gaging station near Portland was 344 cfs, as compared to the long-tenn average of <br />361 cfs. Storage in Turquoise, Twin Lakes, Pueblo, and John Martin reservoirs totaled 55% of <br />nonnal at the end of January. <br /> <br />Rio Grande Basin <br />SWSI value (0.4) indicates that basin water supplies were near normal in January. February 1, <br />2004 snowpack is 106% of nonnal. Storage in Platoro, Rio Grande, and Santa Maria reservoirs <br />totaled 52% of nonnal at the end of January. Precipitation in Alamosa was 0.14 inches, 0.11 <br />inches above normal, and the average monthly temperature was 4.5 degrees above nonnal. <br /> <br />Gunnison Basin <br />The SWSI value (-0.8) indicates that January basin water supplies for the Gunnison Basin were <br />slightly below normal. Snowpack for February 1 is 100% of nonnal. Storage in Taylor Park, <br />Crawford, and Fruitland reservoirs totaled 104% of normal at of the end of January. Flow at the <br />gaging station was at the long-term average. <br /> <br />Colorado Basin <br />The SWSI value (-2.1) indicates that for January basin water supplies were below nonnal. Flow <br />at the gaging station near Dotsero was 1109 cfs, as compared to the long-tenn average of 983 <br />cfs. Storage in Green Mountain, Ruedi, and Williams Fork reservoirs totaled 94% of average at <br />the end of January. The February 1 snowpack is 84% of nonnal. <br /> <br />Yampa/White Basin <br />The SWSI value (-1.3) indicates that water supplies were below normal for the end of January. <br />Precipitation for the entire Basin was only 56% of average for the month. The water year total is <br />down to 87% of average. Snowpack for the Yampa River is 86% of nonnal. The basin went <br />from having the highest snowpack in the state at 108% on January 1 to 86% of average on <br />February 1. <br /> <br />San Juan/Dolores Basin <br />The SWSI value (0.2) indicates that January water basin supplies were nonnal. The NRCS <br />reported that February 1 snowpack is 103% of normal. Flow at the gaging station Animas River <br />near Durango was 168 cfs, as compared to the long-tenn average of 210 cfs. Storage in McPhee, <br />Vallecito, and Lemon reservoir totaled 67% of normal the end of January. <br />
