TOWAOC LATERALS

Three pipe lateral systems with a total length of about 31 miles will be
constructed to deliver water from ehe Towaoc Canal under gravity pressure to
the full-service lands on the Ute Mountain Ute Reservation. Project drainage
facilities will be provided where necessary. The present Aneth Road crosses
through some of the full-service l$nds to be developed. This will require
relocation of approximately 8.8 miles of the road.

MCPHEE DAM POWERPLANT

The McPhee Dam Powerplant will consist of a penstock from the outlet works of
the dam connected to two turbines ~hich will power a 1300 kilowatt generator.
The turbines, generator, and appurtenant equipment will be installed in a
pre-engineered metal building at the base of the dam. It will produce an
-average of 7,170.000 kilowatt-hours annually.

MCPHEE ACCESS ROADS

I:

To alleviate access problems caused by the inundation of county roads through
McPhee Reservoir, several county and Forest Service roads have been improved.
The Dolores-Norwood Road has been reconstructed and paved from Highway 145 in
Dolores, Colorado to the House Creek Road and widened and graveled from House
Creek Road to the Glade Road. Glade Road has been reconstructed and graveled
from the Dolores-Norwood Road to Ormiston Point Road. Lone Dome Road, from
Bradfield Bridge to McPhee Dam, and Ormiston Point Road, from Lone Dome Road
to the Glade Road, have also been reconstructed and graveled. Williams Draw
Road, from Bradfield Bridge to County Road 16, has been improved and graveled
to provide a complete circuit of all-weather roads around McPhee Reservoir.

RECREATION FACILITIES

Recreation facilities have been provided at House Creek Recreation Area on the
east side of McPhee Reservoir, at McPhee Recreation Complex on the west side
of McPhee Reservoir, and at four fisherman access sites at various locations
around McPhee Reservoir. These facilities are administered by the U.S. Forest
Service.

Recreation facilities will also be provided at seven sites along the Dolores
River belo~ McPhee Dam, including campsites, parking, drinking water, and
toilets. The three sites between McPhee Dam and Bradfield Bridge will be
administered by the U.S. Forest Service. The remaining four sites will be
administered by the Bureau of Land Management and will include boat launching
facilities for whitewater rafting.

4
