/

\.

'1

..

COLORADO WATER CONSERVATION BOARD
823 State Centennial Building
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, Colorado 80203

December, 1979

KELTON HEIGHTS WATER DISTRICT PROJECT

INTRODUCTION

The Kelton Heights rater District is located in Lakewood, Colorado.

It is bounded generally by Ohio Avenue, Sheridan Boulevard, Mississippi

Avenue and Harlan Street and is contiguous to the City of Denver along

the Sheridan Boulevard frontage. The district was formed in 1953 to

assure water service to the residents. Subsequent to formation, the

district hooked into the Denver Water Department Conduit and presently

purchases water from that agency. However, the distribution system is

still basically the same as that which the district purchased from the

original landowner in the area and most of the lines are 2 inch and

4 inch mains.

The district currently serves a population of 875 people and

growth in this area is not considered to be very likely. If any growth

occurs in the foreseeable future it will be small in scope and would

not affect the line sizes proposed for this project.

For over a year the board of directors has actively sought funds

from federal agencies, but all of these efforts have resulted in

negative response.

.
