The River Basin Simulation
Model (RIBSIM) was developed by a LRCWE staff member and has
been used in monthly storable flow determinations in the
Cache 1a Poudre Basin, St. Vrain River Basin and Colorado River
Basin. Thi s simul ation model will be used for the storabl e
flow determinations and, therefore, its app1 ication in the
determination of storable flow should be described. The
model a1 so needs to be described for its potential appl ication
in subsequent work phases to the storable flow analyses.

Approach:

1. Describe the application of a river basin simulation
model in the determination of storable flows.
2. Prov ide a general description and user manual of the
RIBS 1M simulation model. It is envisioned that no
modifications of the program logic will be required in
its application to the Rio Grande Basin.

Work Product:
app1 icat ion to
Grande Basin.

A description of the RIBSIM model and its
a determination of storable flow in the Rio

14

~ Leonard Rice Consulting Water fngineers.
