CHAPTER III

PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT

.

water resources, water rights, municipal development, recreation, and
fish and wildlife resources. Potential storage sites and water devel-
opment proposals, both Federal and non-Federal, were identified and
described.

A second meeting of the team was held September 14, 1977, in
Steamboat Springs with about 31 people present. The discussions at
this meeting basically followed the general pattern of the Rangely
meeting. Emphasis this time was on the eastern portion of the study
area, where coal production is dominant, oil shale is practically non-
existent, and petroleum is of minor importance.

The last meeting of the team was the one in Steamboat Springs, al-
though the organization is still in effect. Because of the rapidly
changing energy picture and the indefinite future water requirements in
northwestern Colorado and northeastern Utah, the team has deferred its
planning efforts until better indications of energy and related water
needs became apparent. At that time the study can be resumed.

.

.

22
