<br />. <br /> <br />CHAPTER II <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />The results of a recent study by the State of Colorado on potential <br />oil shale and coal gasification development have become available during <br />preparation and review of this report and are of direct interest because <br />they focus on part of the same area (CDNR 1979). The projections for <br />energy-related water needs in that study are comparable to those pre- <br />sented in this report. By comparison, the Bureau's projections presented <br />in Chapter V indicate a need for 110,000 acre-feet of water for energy <br />development by the year 2000 in the Yellow Jacket Unit area, and the <br />Colorado Report predicts a need of 71,000 to 137,000 acre-feet for energy <br />industry use in the entire Colorado portion of the White River Basin <br />by the same year. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />18 <br />
