6.0 The Query Menu

Conditions relating to diversion structures are formulated using the
Structure fields of the Water Rights Query dialog. This approach
allows the user to quicidy find water rights records AT, UPSTREAM
from, or DOWNSTREAM from a selected structure. To formulate
such a condition, select a diversion structure by single-clicking on the
structure from the map display or from the Key Diversion Struc-
tures list (available via the Palette / Show Lists menu item dis-
cussed below), then click on the desired spatial relationship -- AT,
UPSTREAM, or DOWNSTREAM. The condition will appear in the
text box above.

Selection criteria based on administration number or d~ amount
are formulated using the Admin# and Amount fields in the middle of
the dialog. To query by administration number, enter the desired
number and click on the Admin# button to enter the condition in the
text box above. An operator must then be entered into the middle of
the text that was just created. For example, if you enter 5000 and
click the Admin# button, the incomplete text "AOMINNO 5000" will
appear in the text box. To complete the text to formulate a meaningful
condition, you must SpeCify whether the admin number should be
greater than, less than, or equal to 5000. The simplest way to do this
is to place the cursor before the number, in this case 5000, and select
the appropriate operator from the buttons at the bottom of the dialog.
Use the same approach to formulate a condition based on decreed
amount. These two selection criteria are most useful using the ine-
quality operators> and <: to select water rights that are senior / junior
to a known administration number or less than / greater than a certain
flow amount.

Selection criterion based on Use Type or Adjudication Type are
formulated using the lists at the bottom of the Water Rights Query
dialog. To select water rights of a particular use or adjudication type,
single-click on that item in the list. Be sure to use logical operators to
join the new condition with others in the SQL statement.

To view the results of a formulated query, click on the List button at
the bottom of the dialog. A separate dialog will appear showing the
water rights which meet the SpeCified selection criteria.

Due to memory limitations, there is a limit to the number of water
rightreconls which may be retrieved with a single query. If more than
1000 reconls are retrieved as a result of a query, the oUlpUllist will be
truncated and the user notified.

Click on the Clear button to erase the contents of the SQL query text
box before formulating each query.

7/31/94

38
