6.0 The Query Menu

6.0 The Query Menu

6.1 What is a Query?

Within the context of the SPWRMS application, a query is a request to view
data from the SPWRMS central database. The data resulting from a query are
read-only and are displayed in various formats appropriate to the particular
data.

6.2 Streamftows

The Streamflow dialog can be reached via the Query / Streamflows menu
item.

The Streamflow dialog provides the user with a view of real-time streamflow
data. Streamflow data are supplied by SEO's satellite monitoring system. The
time interval for which streamflow data are displayed is specified via the
Preferences dialog

6.2.1 Performing a Streamflow Query

To perform a query of streamflow data, first specify the desired time
interval in the Preferences dialog. Then select the gages of interest.
Gages can be selected in two ways: by clicking the gage location on
the map display or by clicking on the Satellite Flow Structures list
available via the Palette / Show Lists menu item (discussed below).
Selected gages will be added to the Currently Selected Stream-
gages list in the Streamflow dialog. To remove a gage from the list
of Currently Selected Streamgages, single-click on the item to be
removed, or if all gages are to be cleared, click on the Deselect All
button below the list of gages. Next select the display method.
Streamflow data can be displayed in various ways. If multiple gages
are selected, the user has the option of displaying all streamflow data
in a single window or separated out in multiple windows (one stream-
gage record per window). The streamflow data may be displayed as
tabular output or as a hydrograph. The user also has the option of dis-
playing real-time, hourly, or daily streamflow. After choosing the
appropriate display method, click on the Display button to view the
data.

.,.,
