~

3.0 Running the Application

Map

provides specialized mapping functionality including zoom
and "map call"

provides access to two palettes -- a map legend and a tabular
selection list

Palette

3.3 Common Dialog Buttons

Certain bunons appear in many places within the SGI-SPWRMS GUI. Each
of the following bunons performs the same function wherever it is imple-
mented.

3.3.1 Export

Export - The export button provides a means for the user to save the
contents of a dialog to a disk file. Export produces tab delimited
ASCII text, which can be imported into a spreadsheet or into a word
processor.

3.3.2 OK

OK - Causes whatever changes made in that dialog to take effect. For
example: clicking OK in the Preferences Editor, causes your prefer-
ences to change. In some cases, clicking OK may produce a warning
dialog asking you if you are sure you want to proceed with an action
that cannot be undone.

3.3.3 Cancel

Unlike OK, Cancel simply closes a dialog, without making any
changes to the internal state of the application. Clicking Cancel in
the Preferences Editor closes the dialog but makes no changes to your
active preferences.

3.3.4 Close

While Cancel closes a dialog, leaving no lasting changes, Close
closes a dialog wherein a prior action may have already produced
application changes. For example, in the Water Information Sheet,
the contents of a given Information Sheet may be written to the South
Plane database by clicking on the Commit button. In this context
Close does nothing more than close the Water Information Sheet
dialog since its corresponding data have already been applied outside
of that window.
