These legal obligations generally fall into the following categories:
. AlIgmenllllion - This replaces depletions to tributary surface- or ground-water
systems. Within the priority system under which tributary water is administcred in
Colorado, it is possiblc to use water when a water right is out of priority providing
that the depletion to the tributary watcr source is olTset with another source. AR can
be used as part of an augmentation plan whereby water is recharged when therc is
excess water available. The location of the rccharge is selected such that the travel
time through the aquifer replaces the depletion (0 the strcam at thc time that the water
is necded by thc senior water rights holder.
