.

.

c .

.

.

COLORADO WATER CONSERVATION BOARD
823 State Centennial Building
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, Colorado 80203

November, 1977

EAGLE PROJECT

INTRODUCTION

The town of Eagle, county seat of Eagle county, is located

midway between Vail and Glenwood Springs on the Eagle River in a

mainly agricultural area. Since its incorporation in 1905, the

populatiori has grown to about 1,250 in 1977, with further growth

anticipated as a result of the development of several nearby

recreational areas, including Adams Rib and Beaver Creek ski areas.

- The 1977 population projections, based on low growth and high

growth conditions are as follows:

Low Growth = 1,533

High Growth = 8,750

Eagle is presently experiencing change from an agriculturally

oriented economy to a combination of agricultural and recreational

bases. The town is becoming a support community for employees of

recreational areas, with consequent demands on all of its municipal

services, including water supply facilities. Anticipated growth

is within the present service area of the town, upstream along

Brush Creek, which is currently used as Eagle's water source.
