<br />. <br /> <br />Colorado Water Conservation Board <br /> <br />McCall Lake Dam Project <br />City of Longmont <br /> <br />December, 1987 <br /> <br />Introduction <br /> <br />McCall Lake is located four miles west of Longmont in <br />Boulder County. It is a raw water storage reservoir which is <br />owned by the City of Longmont. The reservoir has a capacity <br />of 506 acre-feet. Releases from this facility are primarily <br />used to irrigate city owned parks. <br /> <br />Problem <br /> <br />The State Engineer has advised the City of several <br />deficiencies which need to be corrected. The principal <br />deficiencies are: (1) erosion of the embankment, (2) erosion <br />of the spillway. and (3) non-operable outlet works. These <br />problems have all been addressed in a feasibility study <br />prepared by Rocky Mountain Consultants, Inc. of Longmont, <br />which study is the basis of the recommendation for this <br />project. <br /> <br />Proposed proiect <br /> <br />The consulting engineer's recommendation is to reconstruct <br />1,800 feet of the upstream face embankment. replace the <br />existing spillway, replace the existing outlet works, extend <br />the existing toe drain to a new outlet location. and construct <br />a new diversion structure on the outlet ditch from the <br />reservoir. The total estimated cost of this project is <br />$435,000. <br /> <br />Proposed Financina <br /> <br />The financing proposed for this project is as follows: <br /> <br />City of Longmont <br />CWCB loan at 5% interest <br /> <br />Total <br /> <br />$217.500 <br />217.500 <br />$435,000 <br /> <br />Under this financing arrangement. Longmont would have to repay <br />the CWCB $28,166.25 per year for lO years. for a total <br />repayment of $281,662.50. <br /> <br />5378E <br />
