<br />projecls on environmental resources, including wellands. If it

<br />The Colorado Cattlemell's Associatioll (CCA) is a non.

<br />The Colorado Coalitioll of Lalld Tn/sts is made up of some
<br />25 grassroots land trusls, as well as several reginnal and nation-

<br />ohlain easements that preserve significant lands, including

<br />Ducks Vlllimited's mission is to preserve, enhance, manage
<br />and re-create wellands. In Colorado, DII wnrks closely with the
<br />Division 01 Wildlife, accepting wellands proposals from govern-
<br />menl agencies and private landowners that may be funded
<br />from sales of duck stamps or from private dollars raised hy DU.
<br />The 6,001l members of DU's Colorado chapler raise about
<br />$6110,1I00-7110,001l a year for projecls henefitting some 600

<br />Boulder Coul/ly has completed a proje<:t to identify, locate
<br />and rank wetlands on privale property in the unincorporated
<br />portions of the counly-about 3511 square miles. The project
<br />included inlerpretation of aerial photographs, as well as field
<br />surveys when landowners gran led acress. This preliminary
<br />assessment will be used for general resource planning and
<br />development "'view.

<br />Sail Miguel CoulI/Y's Wetland Area regulations are aimed at
<br />preserving wetlands in the county primarily hy requiring
<br />development aclivity to avoid wetland areas whenever possi-
<br />ble-and to minimize impacts that cannot be avoided. The
<br />regulations apply to all wetland areas, to 1II0,foot buffer
<br />zones around Ihem and to "II waters of the county and
<br />require anyone proposing development within a weiland or
<br />huffer zone to apply for a county special-use permit.

<br />In eooperation with Ihe Cresled Butte I.and Trust, Ihe TowlI
<br />ofCres/ed Butte has established a long.range program 10
<br />preserve critical wetlands. Wetlands within a thrt'e.mile
<br />r"dius of Ihe town have heen evaluated and priorilized, and
<br />the lown will prolect wetl"nds and other crilicallands
<br />through land. use conlrols such as spacing of residential
<br />dwellings at the time of "nnexation. The land trust has
<br />begun a program 10 ""quire high.quality wetl'lllds.

<br />In the last four years, the Colorado Program of The
<br />Na/ure Conservancy has focused much nf its attention on
<br />wellands. The group has acquired riparian areas along the
<br />San Miguel and Vampa rivers, as well as High Creek Fen in
