The Subdistrict occupies about 78 square miles, with large
concentrations south of Greeley along US 85 to Brighton, southeast of Greeley extending to
Keenesberg on 1-76, and north of 1- 76 between Wiggins and Fort Morgan. Currently there are 220
members covering 440 wells. Most of the wells were previously covered under the GASP
(Groundwater Appropriators of the South Platte) augmentation plan. The WAS Subdistrict's 2004
Substitute Water Supply Plan was approved by the State Enginee(s Office (SEO) on April 29,
2004, and is valid until March 31. 2005. The WAS pennanent Augmentation Plan will go to Water
Court in May 2006. In an average year the WAS Subdistrict will need to replace approximatelY
10,100 acre feet of depletions.
