At this <br />time, the District is not considering any type of low-flow retrofit fixture program; <br />however, this option may be considered in the future. <br /> <br />5.2 Low Water-Use Landscape and Efficient Irrigation <br /> <br />5.2.1 Current L TWD Measures <br /> <br />The Little Thompson Water District currently does not require the use of low water use <br />landscaping or water efficient irrigation. The District does encourage and promote the <br />use of efficient irrigation by asking the District customers to participate in a voluntary <br />odd/even day watering plan. The L TWD has been using the newsletter format to <br />promote efficient irrigation with water conservation tips. The District also recommends <br />the use of low flow heads in lawn sprinkler systems. <br /> <br />5.2.2 Plans for Future L TWD Measures <br /> <br />The Little Thompson Water District will continue to encourage the use of efficient <br />irrigation through upcoming newsletters and bill inserts promoting low water use <br />landscaping and efficient irrigation. The District may also consider implementing a <br />mandatory odd/even watering plan. <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />1 <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />5.3 Water-Efficient Industrial and Commercial Water-Using <br />Processes <br /> <br />5.3.1 Current L TWD Measures <br /> <br />The Little Thompson Water District is a fairly rural district with only a few commercial <br />and industri::ll r.ustnmArs (Tl'lble 5-2}:-oo!jL2.W~of commercial taps useEl--S.S% of the <br />water billed to customers in 1994. One influence of the rural setting is that the District <br />does provide water to several dairies and feedlots. These customers account for less <br />than 1 % of the District's taps, but consumed 14.6% of the delivered water in 1994. <br />Both of these agricultural industries require large amounts of water, with the average <br />dairy cow utilizing 25 gallons of water per day and the average feedlot cow requiring 15 <br />gallons of water per day. The Little Thompson Water District has not restricted the use <br />of treated drinking water in these rural industries. <br /> <br />The larger dairies have been very efficient in using the water that is delivered through <br />the District's taps. A typical dairy may reuse the water three to four times before it is <br /> <br />5-2 <br />
