6.2.2 Potential Negative Effects of Water Conservation

Water conservation may:
. Decrease the District's revenues to a point where rate increases are required to
fund the operation of the District.
. Require the District to rent out unused raw water supplies at a lower rate of
return than could be obtained by selling treated water. This also decrease the
District's revenue.
. Decrease the L TWO's revenue which could delay or eliminate planned system
upgrades, such as small line replacement.

6.3 Budget

The L TWO budgeted $3,000 for water conservation in 1995 and used these funds to
publish a newsletter with a focus on water conservation and customer education. The
1996 budget includes $3,600 earmarked for water conservation. Again, these funds
will be used to promote conservation through our regular newsletters as well as paying
for the publishing of the l TWO's Water Conservation Plan. Future budgets may
include additional funds to begin implementing other conservation measures deemed
beneficial to both the District's customers and the L TWO.

6.4 Program Implementation Schedule

I
I
I
I
I
I

No additional programs have been identified in this Water Conservation Plan that
require specific action on or before a specified date. L TWO will continue the schedule
of 2-3 newsletters per year with sections dedicated to promoting water conservation.

6.5 Futu~~ P,,-o_g~~~~_valuation __

The L TWO will continue to evaluate the implementation of existing and additional water
conservation measures. Detailed updates of the plan will most likely coincide with
updates of the District's Master Plan, which is updated every three to four years.

6-2
