-5-

As you can see, the complete renovation of these medians is expensive. Unfortunately,
more expensive than if these medians were original1y designed considering water
conservation.
, D~
As we have discussed, any proposed modificationslOrl portions of the proposal could be
combined with the. $165,000.00 budgeted for the Mtral1y operated irrigation control
system. As 64th Avenue and 80th Avenue have been constant maintenance problems and
visible water wasters, a portion of one or both of these renovation projects could be
incorporated into the central control1er project;

According to North Jeffco Parks Staff, a poorly designed section of median on 80th
Avenue lies between Yarrow and Carr Street. The fol1owing cost estfmate reflects the
completion of Phases I, II and III from Yarrow to Carr Street and installing a satellite
field control1er tying this section of median to a central controller.

- Soil Import
- Excavation
- Decorative paving
- Irrigation retrofit
- Shrubs
- Mulch and weed barrier fabric
- Satellite control1er station
- Soil preparation

L.S.
L.S.
7,620 S.F. at 4.00
L.S.
L.S.
L.S.
L.S.
L.S.

$ 2,400.00 .
1,900.00
30,480.00
9,555.00
8,000.00
5,461.00
8,000.00
2,814.00

TOTAL YARROW TO CARR STREET
(PHASES I, II AND III)

$68,610.00

Additional modifications to 64th could also be integrated into the 1989 Program. This
would obviously relate to the cost of the central control1er system, if it is indeed
purchased.

Please review this proposal and the associated costs 50. we can continue to refine our
plans for the retrofitting operation. I wil1 be glad to answer any questions you may have
concerning this proposal.

- un -- u:::- -Chlld<Fenimore------ -- ----- --- - - ----- - --- _______u____.
\ Mike Elms
I Phil Cortese
Gene Wil1iamson

I
I
)
I

MLl9
