-3-

Changing 64th Avenue from manual to automatic irrigation will be difficult. The fact
. that sleeving does not occur the length of the roadway prevents us from connecting all of
the medians with one irrigation controller. Because of the expense involved with street
cutting and boring each island must have its own controller. Since it appears that each
island has its own water tap, watering once the system is converted to automatic, unlike
the current manual system, could occur at any time during the night.

The third phase of the renovation involves replacement of the remaining turf with
alternative plantings including ground covers, shrubs and trees. Prior to the completion
of these plantings, the remaining turf will have to be maintained. This will involve
additional maintenance (due to the slope, paving, etc.) but will lessen as the turf is
phased out.

The total cost estimates for this renovation work are as follows. After this information
is presented, I will explore some phasing alternatives illustrating how this work may be
completed.

64th Avenue Estimate

Phases 1 and 2

- Soil import
- Excavation
- Decorative slope paving
- Retrofitting irrigation -
laterals, valves, new heads,
risers, etc.
- Street cutting, patching, and
e lectr ical
- New irrigation controllers
and enclosures
- Native grass, sod and fine
gr ading

400 C.Y. at $10.00
L.S.
14,640 S.F. at 4.15
L.S.

$4,000.00
3,300.00
60,756.00
12,500.00

L.S.
L.S.

10,000 S.F. at .30

10,044.00
5,400.00
$ 3,000.00

TOTAL PHASE I and 2 $99,000.00
-------------
------- - -------

1

Phase 3 - Plan tinl(S

- Shrub Plantings
Trees
- Ground covers and perennials
- Mulch and weed barrier fabric
- Soil preparation

L.S.
L.S.
L.S.
L.S.
L.S.
TOTAL PHASE 3

$ 9,760.00
7,500.00
1,500.00
4,500.00
3,000.00

$26,260.00

TOTAL PROJECT 64TH AVENUE

$125,260.00
