Community, school, and business have <br />all bought into our project to make our dream come true. Our center was <br />recognized in the District Highlights. Several other schools have already <br />asked for suggestions. Don Hollum from the Colorado Department of Education <br />included a section of the Oak Creek Environmental Center in a state-wide <br />video. We have been recognized as the Commisioner's Conservation School <br />for 1994. <br /> <br />The Xeriscape Task Force awarded us the Xeriscape Excellence in Land- <br />scaping Merit Award for outstanding water conservation landscapes and <br />programs. The Men's Garden Club will host their national convention. They <br />have made a video that will be shown at the opening of their convention. <br /> <br />Students of Oak Creek have become more responsible members of our <br />ecosystem. The center has enhanced the district and school science goals. <br />Students for the past two years were involved in presenting Kids News <br />Production to a local television station. All grade levels have been involved <br />in the care and planting of the trees and bushes. A local nursery patiently <br />explained the step by step procedure while assisting each student group with <br />planting of a tree. <br />
