A <br />draft copy of the educational booklet has been sent to local plant stores, seed companies, landscapers and developers. Favorable <br />responses for the booklet have been received along with some donations for the printing. The Town of Telluride has also expressed <br />interest in sponsoring the booklet and in providing additional funds for printing. In order to collect comments and donations from <br />potential sponsors, including the Town of Telluride, printing of the booklet has been delayed until Mmch 1995. <br /> <br />Sugar City <br /> <br />County: Crowley <br />Funding: $1,627 <br />Start: 9/1193 <br />Status: On-going <br />The project goals include: increasing customer awareness of the effects of water conservation devices; extending the useful life of the <br />water system; and collecting data for evaluation of future projects, The Town of Sugar City will purchase a computer system and devel- <br />op a database that will track each individual water user, and provide a monthly and annual summary of the amount of water used by <br />the customers. Through this system the town will be able to deleCt domestic water leaks on each water meter. This project will also <br />provide an incentive to each water user for water consumption under a specified minimum amount based on historic water usage. <br /> <br />The computer program is installed and about half of the metering has been completed. Because of changes in personnel and finances, <br />the remaining three meters for two parks and the cemetery have not been installed. The computer program has allowed the start of the <br />leak detection program and repairs to the system. <br /> <br />Wiggins <br /> <br />County: Morgan <br />Funding: $15,000 <br />Start: 7/15/93 <br />Status: On-going <br />This is a water improvement project that will include metering residential, businesses and public facilities. This project will provide <br />water-use data to needed to determine how to make a transition from a flat-rate billing system to a metered rate. One hundred meters <br />will be installed. During the installation phase, public meetings and other informational elIons will keep the public informed and <br />updated throughout the project. A written water conservation plan will also be produced, <br /> <br />The Town of Wiggins has installed the 100 meters and has decided to install meters for the whole town. In January 1995 billing of all <br />customers at the metered rate will begin. Everyone has been made aware of the program through their utility bills, <br /> <br />Woodmoor <br /> <br />County: El Paso <br />Funding: $7,000 <br />Start: 911/93 <br />Status: On-going <br />This project will provide water conservation education to both adults and middle school students. Components include: integrating <br />existing water conservation plans, such as conservation rates and pipeline leak detection, with additional information gathered for this <br />project; producing a water conservation slide show and videotape; public presentations and workshops on water conservation; materi- <br />als for use by visitors to water treatment facilities; and development of a curriculum for use in the schools. The project will also record <br />monthly water usage of each household to track usage and savings before and after the project Teachers will be surveyed about the <br />curriculum, Customers will be surveyed as well. <br /> <br />The cmriculum has been developed and is starting to be utilized by the teachers. The slide show and a video are currently in produc- <br />tion and will be ready by spring. Data on monthly water usage is presently being collected. <br />
