WHEREAS, the Colorado Depl:lrtment of Natural Resources, Colorado Water
Conservation Board wishes to contract with the ColoX'ado State University,
Cooperative Exteneion, for the following services involving grant assistance
for the purpose of a pilot program demonstrating the benefits of water
efficiency measures pursuant to the authority granted in Section 37-60-119,
caS:

. A field research and demonstration site will be established at a
growers farm in Delta, Colorado, to evaluate subsurface micro-
irrigation using buried driplines. These are 'T-tape,' 'Typhoon or
Python' tube of netatim, 'porous tube,' to be cOlIlpClred to surface
method of irrigation. Syst'em installation will start in 1994.
B~~e root strawberry plants will be planted in March, 19~5. The
study will be conducted in a commercial growers field' located
approximately nine miles southwest of Delta, Colorado. An adv-isory
committee will be formed.

. The program will 1) provide an evaluation of water uee efficiency
in terms of amount used and yield obtained, 2) economic evaluation
of the subsurface system, 3) life expectancy of the system by
evaluating possible plugging of the orifices, ~) monitor salt
movement in the soil prOfile, and 5) develop 13T data base for
strawberries and irrigation SCheduling. As a eecondary goal, the
soil moisture tension will be monitored to observe any differences
to answer possible discrepancy in yield.

, provide publicity and promotion through local radio station and
news media through visits to the site. A field day will be held
during harvest, where the local county commissioners, ~long with
local farmers will be invited. Adequate pictures will be taken to
record the events, performance for evaluation and publicity.

. produce a final report from data that has been compiled, analyzed
and conclusions drawn by the end of the last harvest.

. provide technical assistance and staff support to produce the above
products.
