<br />COSTS <br /> <br />Levels of monetary savings vary with the cost of energy in specific <br />areas. Low flow and aerating fixtures are a very economical means of <br />conservation and efficiency, with models costing from $5. to $20. retail. <br />Wholesale prices are again less. Associated savings is mainly derived <br /> <br />, <br />from the monies spent to heat water for these uses. Approximate annual <br />savings, using Public Service's current rates of $0.061 per kwh of <br />electricity and $0.34 per cd of natural gas, will total from $100.-250. in <br />energy costs alone, with an additional $80, savings for reduced water and <br />sewer bills, <br />Following are two examples of return on investments in these fixtures. <br />Below is the results of a successful retrofit program in New Jersey, and <br />the next page compares an investment in conservation with other typical <br />investments, <br /> <br />New Jersey Department Of Energy . <br />In response to the drought emergency declared by the governor in 1987, the NJ DOE purchased 385.000 Incredible Head' <br />low flow showerheads and targeted installation in 30% of the housing stock in the six drought affected counties. All hospitals <br />and high schools were inciuded.
