INTRODUCTION

Homeowners do not need to drastically change their habits of water
use to practice conservation and efficiency. The installation of water
saving plumbing fixtures, especially in the construction of new homes, has
been proven to save significant water AND ENERGY resources, translating
into a substantial dollar savings over the life of the home and return on
the initial investment.
The Water Conservation Program, from within the Colorado Department
of Natural Resources, would like to join with Public Service Co. of
Colorado in promoting these water saving plumbing fixtures (Ultra Low
Volume Toilets, Low Flow Showerheads, Efficient Faucet Fixtures, and
New Technology Water Heaters) to area builders, developers, and
homeowners through the established and successful Ideal Energy Home
Program,
The following pages will describe in detail the savings associated
with each of the fixtures, expressed in terms of resource conservation and
monetary benefits to homeowners, builders, and the public utility.

1
