I.andscaoe water reauirements, The extent of landscaping on the lot, and the <br />degree of water required for the particular plants will affect the landscape's <br />overall water requirements, and therefore the amount of water that might be <br />applied. This infonnation will be obtained from the homeowner and from site <br />study by Water Utility staff. <br /> <br />e. T):pC of imitation svstem. It is probable that the type of irrigation system, i.e. <br />manual or automatic, is a factor in the amount of landscape water use. This <br />information will be obtained from the homeowner. <br /> <br />B. LITERATIJRE REQUIRED <br />All of the following literature will be developed by Water Utility staff. Photocopying <br />and/or printing services will be done by a local vendor. <br />1. Homeowner participant solicitation literature. This will consist primarily of a <br />directly-mailed letter to the randomly selected future homeowners within the <br />targeted neighborhoods. <br /> <br />2. Lawn watering information. This will consist of simple guidelines for efficient <br />lawn watering. The information will be provided to all 100 homeowners in the <br />study. <br /> <br />3. Homeowner participant information packet and contract. An infonnation packet <br />will explain the study, and outline the guidelines for participating. A survey <br />intended to gather some of the data stated in section III #4 above will be included. <br />A contract will need to be signed by the participants, that states their <br />responsibilities in the study. in exchange for receiving the payment. <br /> <br />C. PARTICIPANTS <br />1. Water Utility staff <br />a. Jim Clark, Water Conservation Specialist (project Supervisor) <br />b. Dennis Bode, Water Resource and Planning Manager <br />c. other administrative personnel, as required <br /> <br />2. Research subjects <br />a. 50 homeowners who do not amend their landscape soil (Group I) <br />b. SO homeowners who do amend their landscape soil (Group 2) <br /> <br />3. Consultants <br />a. Researcher/statistician <br /> <br />IV, PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION <br />As previously stated, participating homeowners will be recruited through direct mailing to <br />furore homeowners within the targeted neighborhoods.
