,

SECTION 4
WATER CONSERVATION

Overall, water use from 1992 - 1994 has decreased by about 5%. or 1,161,000 gallons per year.
The most significant savings is at Lincoln Park, which has cut its water use almost in half;
1,821,000 gallons to be exact.

The most notable increase in consumption is at the State Services Building. Water use is up by
roughly 45%. A major renovation was undertaken at this faCility during 1991 and 1992 in which
the cooling towers were not in use. They were put into operation in the summer of 1993.

Table 4-1, on the following page, is a matrix of calculated water savings by facility and water use
type. Corresponding bar-charts for each facility are illustrated in Appendix C on Figures C-1
through C-8. Figure C-9 shows the savings for all eight facilities, combined.

SECTION 4: WATER CONSERVATION

8
