, e

PUBLIC SURVEY.

.

On September 25th 1997 The Old Berthoud Recorder included three questions about
the Xeriscape collection in the 1997 survey ofBerthoud area residents. Below are the questions
and the responses.

1. Have you heard about the water conservation and Xeriscape collection at the Library?
YES 29%
NO 56%

2. Do you plan on doing any Xeriscape (low water use) gardening or landscaping in the next year?
YES 34%
NO 40%

3. Will you use the materials available at the library to plan and layout your project?
YES 34%
NO 66%

NEXT TIME I WOULD...

I would like to believe that a collection of 13 to 20 books could be purchased for around $600.00 and
they could provide most of the information that people need ( and want) to use in planning a low water use
landscape. Local water providers and municipalities could send out information about the resource in utility
billings and papers would be ready to publish press releases if they were print ready. It would be a great idea
to place a collection of those 13-20 books in every Colorado Library with a standard press kit and print ready
. material for distribution to water users.

AND THE WORK HAS NOT STOPPED!

Continuing efforts to promote the collection include:

Roberta Depp has been very active getting the word out with" table talks" and presentations to
various library organizations in Colorado

Little Thompson Water District is planning on $ 500.00 in the budget each year for future funding of
water conservation activities including the purchase of new book for the collection.

Oh yea, and the old 52' Ford will be in the parade each year until the posters fall off in tatters.

Special thanks to:

.

Roberta Depp and the Volunteers at the Berthoud Public Library.
Lori Lamb, Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District
Terry Moulton, Colorado Water Conservation Board.
