Titled, "Welcome to Xeriscape - A
Water-Wise Landscape," the workshop will be presented at II a.m. and repeated at I
p.m. The presenter is Jan Caniglia, a landscape architect from The XeriClinic Design
Group in Denver.

The workshop format will be slide-lecture with a period for questions and answers.
Various topics related to this water saving approach to landscaping will be covered
including: design, maintenance, turf and lawn, plants, watering and irrigation, soil, and
mulch. Various exhibits and handouts will provide additional information on xeriscape
issues and Ms. Caniglia will be available between sessions for informal discussion and
advice.

The workshops are part of a collaborative effort of the Berthoud Public Library and the
Little Thompson Water District to create a xeriscape and water conservation resource
library for the general public at the Berthoud Library. The collection contains over 150
items including books, pamphlets, magazines, videos, and CD-ROMs on xeriscape related
topics that are available for check-out or use in the library. New items are still being
added, but a bibliography of the current collection is now available. Materials in the
collection are available to residents in the Little Thompson Water District and throughout
the state through inter-library loan.

Funding for this special collection was provided by a grant from the Colorado Water
Conservation Board. Publicity materials for this project were designed by the Northern
Colorado Water Conservancy District.

Come to a workshop on Saturday, January 31 (II a.m. or I p.m.) to prepare for your
spring yard projects and to learn more about water-saving landscaping appropriate for our
area. For as Nathan Meeker once said, "Water is essential because you must remember
this is arid country."
