J

SUMMARY

Efficient use of the Colorado River will play an increasingly

important role in Clifton Water District's long-range water use

planning. Through wise water use, the need for costly facilities may

be delayed and water resources may be protected for other uses.

Currently, the District feels as if its current practices are more

than sufficient water conservation measures.

-i

By keeping a constant vigil on water consumption and practices of
our customers and continually evaluating the water conservation
program, the District may find the need to implement a more active
water conservation program. At this time, however, it is not cost-
effective or practical for the District to do so.
In the event that the District has to implement additional water
conservation measures, it will be necessary to get broad-based support
for the conservation program. It is also necessary that the efficient
water use become "second nature" for everyone. Clearly, no one person
or agency can implement such changes in water use behavior. Only
systematic, gradual behavior changes, interwoven with advances in
technology will permanently create water conservation.
Many different strategies will be used to reach these water
conservation goals. The District
will determine if the water savings and the cost effectiveness of the
program is cost justifiable in assessing various programs. Specific
programs will be selected and funded during the annual planning and
budgeting process.
Maintaining water conservation goals will require the effort and
commitment of everyone.
