<br />2.8 Regulatorv measures <br />The City of Montrose has regulatory measures governing the excessive usage of water. Section. <br />3-5-18 of the Municipal C;:ode provides that it is unlawful to waste water, and further provides <br />that it is prima facie evidence of water waste if Unreasonable amounts of water are allowed to <br />flow into the streets. Violators may be subject to disconnection. <br /> <br />The City has a regulatory mechanism in place to restrict water usage during drought and shortage <br />periods. Section 3-5-18 of the Municipal Code provides that the City may limit water use and <br />watering times by resolution. <br /> <br />2.9 Incentives to implement water use efficiencv techniques <br />The City of Montrose does not offer a rebate program for water conservation. The City does <br />provide substantial incentive for water conservation, however, through its water rate structure. <br /> <br />The role of water use efficiency within the City is that of wise use, conservation and education. <br />The City will endeavor to fulfill this role both now and in the future. While the City foresees no <br />shortage in its raw water supply, implementing conservation measures now will only ensure that <br />our future supplies do remain adequate. <br /> <br />The City's conservation measures represent a proactive approach to resource management. With <br />recent and current growth trends, the significance of taking these measures now cannot be <br />understated. <br /> <br />Section 3. Public Process <br /> <br />This Plan shall be made publicly available, and shall be subject to a 60 day review period. <br />During this review period, comments may be made. Subsequent to this public comment period, <br />the Plan shall be adopted by the City of Montrose. <br /> <br />Section 4. Implementation <br /> <br />The City's efforts to encourage water conservation are implemented on a continuous. While the <br />City.currently enjoys an abundant and stable water source, it recognizes the need to promote <br />water conservation and discourage wasteful water use in an circumstances. To note: <br /> <br />. The City's water rate structure is evaluated annually. <br />. The City continuously monitors water delivery through meter readings to determine leak <br />detection. <br />. The City coritinuous1y evaluates its delivery system to ensure the efficient delivery of water <br />to all residents. <br />. The City is continuously endeavoring to utilized non-treated water for irrigation in its parks <br />and greenbelt areas. <br />. The City is continuously attempting to educate the public' on the wise usage of water through <br />disbursement of written materials. <br />. The City continuously enforces its Ordinance against water waste. <br />
