(Refer <br />to the Appendix in Grant Guidelines) <br /> <br />CJ' Water Delivery System/Infrastructure Enhancement CJ Government and Public Facilities <br />):1( Public Information/Education 0 Other, <br /> <br />1. Please see project summary and design sheets. <br />2. Monitoring of water will be with meters and cost change. <br />Evaluation will b~ subjective by use, dissemination of <br />brochures, visual presentation, and educational with <br />curriculum. Our hope is to change public landscaping <br />to be more congruent with ecology through demonstra- <br />tion and education. <br />3. Oak Creek's science committee wanted a practical learn- <br />ing lab for students and parents which focused on <br />ecology,and multjdisciplinary learning. The C010rado <br />Extension Servic~, Depa~tment of Wildlife, Colorado <br />Springs Water Department, Men's Garden Glub, private <br />individuals and teachers have researched and shared <br />information ,for the development of the center. <br />4. Community involvement has been .the mainstay of the <br />development of this project. PTO, StLldent COLlncil , <br />and Chapter 2'funds have been donated. The center <br />will provide a community location to view wildlife, <br />water conserv~tion, presentations, xeriscape, and <br />eCOlogy in action. <br />5. Results will be shared through a brochure, curriculum <br />guide, video/pictoral presentation, dedication with <br />media coverage, and th~ center itself. <br />6. The benefits to our agency are in aiding students to <br />construct real life meanings for science and math. <br />Innovation is the appl ication of many community <br />ideas and resources in the comprehensive ecological <br />environment for pleasure and learning. <br />7. Planning and implementation involves many agencies and <br />persons. These include Colorado Springs Water Dept., <br />Colorado Extensiori Service, Department of Wildlife, <br />Staff, students arid parents of Oak Creek, Harrison <br />District #2 personnel and equipme~t, Mr. Leroy Fish - <br />Men's Garden Club, Mr. Wayne Browneller - architect, <br />and any other persons or organizations will in9 to <br />contribute time, expertise, or donations. <br />S. We estimate that-this project will be completed by <br />winter 1995, wit.h hopes that the dedication can be <br />spring 1995 du~ing Arbor Day celebrations. <br />
