-I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

I
I
I

~----_.

I
I
I
I
I
I

owns approximately 492 acre-feet of Fulton Ditch water. The City intends to use its
Fulton Ditch supply to irrigate the Fort Lupton Hillside Cemetery, for which
11 Fulton Ditch shares are dedicated, for irrigating other City land and for aquifer
recharge and augmentation.
As of the date of this report, the City has purchased a total of 1,003 units of CBT
water, the yield of which varies from approximately 0.5 to 0.7 acre-feet per unit
depending upon the quota set by the NCWCD. The City intends to purchase and/or
lease up to an additional 2,000 CBT units before the end of 1996 as a replacement
water supply. The more efficiently the City can use this water resource, the fewer
units the City will need to purchase in the future, thus decreasing its water purchase
costs.

2. Water Storage
By the end of 1996, the City will have in place 2 million gallons of treated water
storage, 1 million gallons of well water storage, and approximately 1.25 million gallons
of raw surface water storage, which it will share with the Town of Hudson. Under
Fort Lupton's agreement with the NCWCD, the raw surface water pipeline could be
shut down for up to seven days for repair. The better Fort Lupton can manage its
water resources, the longer it can extend its current storage and the less future
storage it will need later.

3. Water Treatment
Currently, the only form of treatment the City practices is chlorination of its well
water. Groundwater is chlorinated at each well head. When the City's regional new
surface WTP begins operation in late 1996, it will have a capacity of 3 million gallons
per day (mgd), 0.5 mgd of which will belong to the Town of Hudson.

4. Wastewater Treatment
The City constructed a new WWTP in 1993. It has a capacity of 2.75 mgd. The
current average day wastewater flow through the plant is approximately 1.2 mgd.

5. Basic Statistics
In 1995, monthly water production in Fort Lupton averaged 93.57 million gallons
per month. The low production month in 1995 was February, during which the City
supplied 60.24 million gallons. The high production month in 1995 was July, during

{25325.IOO; 05M1961

6
