ENCLOSURE - INSTREAM FLOW RECOMMENDATIONS FOR LOTTIS CREEK
Below is a description of the proposed instream flow. Additional details can be found in Attachments A-
F.
Location
Lottis Creek is located within the Upper Taylor watershed (HUC-12: 140200010202) in Gunnison County,
Water Division 4 (Attachment A).The headwaters originate beneath the northwest side of Fairview Peak
(13, 218 feet) in the Fossil Ridge Wilderness. Lottis Creek flows north to Union Park and turns northwest
to flow to the confluence with the Taylor Fork of the Gunnison River, downstream of Taylor Park
Reservoir(Attachment A).The Lottis Creek watershed is about 42 square miles and is on the Taylor Park
Reservoir United States Geologic Survey topographic map (Attachment Q.
The stream segment of the proposed instream flow appropriation is approximately 10.3 miles long and
starts at the headwaters of Lottis Creek and extends to the confluence with the Taylor Fork of the
Gunnison River.
Table 1. The public land in the Lottis Creek Watershed is managed by the USFS.
2. The riparian corridor ownership percentages were calculated using stream length.
The Lottis Creek watershed is 98 percent public land managed by the United States Forest Service
(USFS).The riparian corridor is 69 percent public land managed by the USFS.
Existing Instream Flow Right
Lottis Creek, from the headwaters to the Taylor Fork of the Gunnison River, has a year-round flat rate ISF
of 5 cfs (case number 4-83CW227; appropriation date 6/3/1982).This proposal requests an increased
summer flow rate of 7.1 cfs from April 1 to October 31.
