<br />WHEREAS, The Parker area is dependent on ground water and its <br />nonrenewable aquifer; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The Parker Water and Sanitation District has been in the <br />forefront of helping residents conserve and reuse water; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Rueter-Hess Reservoir is a proposed 16,000 acre-foot <br />reservoir to be built 3 miles southwest of the Town of Parker; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Rueter-Hess Reservoir will provide a water management <br />tool for the Parker Water and Sanitation District that will store runoff and <br />help preserve the aquifer by regulating peak-day pumping requirements; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Rueter-Hess Reservoir has the support of Douglas County, <br />the Town of Parker, and the residents of the Parker Water and Sanitation <br />District; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Rueter-Hess Reservoir will be the first major reservoir built <br />in the south metro area in recent years; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Adding water storage in the south metro area is an issue of <br />regional and statewide importance; and <br /> <br />WBEREAS,Ruetet:=Hess-Reser.voir-has-complied-with-environmental <br />requirements of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Environmental Impact <br />Statement process; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Rueter-Hess Reservoir, which has been planned by the <br />Parker Water and Sanitation District for nearly 20 years, has received its <br />federal 404 permit; now, therefore, <br /> <br />Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the Sixtyj'ourth <br />General Assembly of the State of Colorado, the Senate concurring herein: <br /> <br />PAGE 2-HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 04-1029 <br />
