WHEREAS, The well-being of the people and l'laces in rural
Colorado depend upon many things, including but not limited to the
availability of good-paying jobs; access to critical services such as
education, health care, and communication; strong communities; and a
healthy natural environment; and

WHEREAS, It is therefore appropriate for the General Assembly
to form an interim committee to study the growing problems facing fUnil
Colorado; now, therefore,

Be It Resolved by the House ojRepresentatives of the Sixty-fifth
General Assembly of the State of Colorado, the Senate concurring
herein:

(1) That there is hereby created a legislative committee,
hereinafterreferred to as the "committee", which shall meet in the interim
after the 2005 Regular Session of the Sixty-fifth General Assembly to
study economic issues facing rural Colorado, including but not limited to
economic development, retention of employees, and access to technology.

(III) One member of the public who is a county commissioner

(c) No more than mtee membersJrom the Senate shall be from
metropolitan areas. No more than m~ members from the House of
Representatives shall be from metropolitan areas.

(d) Ail appointments to the committee shall be made on or before
July 1, 2605. .

(3) That the Speaker of the House of Representatives shall
designate a chairperson of the committee from among the members
appointed from the House of Representatives, and the President of the
Senate shall designate a vice-chauperson of the committee from among
the members appointed from the Senate.
