District may also terminate the test earlier than planned if the performance of the
equipment has been satisfactorily demonstrated and continued testing would not
provide additional benefits. If the District recommends modifications to the Project
Work Plan, an addendum to the Project Work Plan will be prepared and submitted to
the District for review.
6.0 Task 6- Perform Water Quality Sampling and Compile Performance Monitoring
Information
6.1 Collect and analyze water quality samples from the various process streams to
determine membrane performance and the potential for mineral scaling. Samples will
be analyzed for the common dissolved ions in groundwater along with silica, nitrates,
iron, manganese and some trace elements. Sample laboratory analyses will include
up to 130 general mineral content tests and 40 radionuclide tests plus two
radionuclide tests on the composite dry solids produced by the spray dryer. In
addition, laboratory analyses will include initial water quality screening tests by the
VSEP supplier and three membrane autopsies. The District's field engineer will also
measure conductively, pH, and turbidity or SDI as part of the field engineer's daily
field checks. This information will also provide the Consultant with"real time"pilot
plant information. The water quality data will be compiled in spreadsheet format for
trend analysis.
6.2 Since the concentrated brine streams from the ZLD pilot plants will be
recombined with the permeate from the ZLD pilot plants, the water quality
discharged from the ZLD pilot test equipment will be similar to the concentrate from
the Town's Membrane Water Treatment Plant which is currently being discharged to
the Town's wastewater treatment plant. As a result, the ZLD pilot plant will be
discharged to the Town's sanitary sewer and it will not be necessary to provide
additional samples for discharge permit compliance monitoring. No toxicity testing
of the residual streams is proposed since the intent is not to discharge the residual
liquid in any surface water. The ZLD pilot plant water is also not being used for
potable water, therefore sampling for compliance with Colorado Department of
Public Health and Environment(CDPHE) regulations will not be required.
6.3 Provide electronic copies of water quality spreadsheet to CWCB monthly.
7.0 Task 7- Prepare Pilot Plant Evaluation Report, Decommission Pilot Plant Equipment
i
i
7.1 Upon completion of the pilot testing scenarios, decommission each pilot plant and
remove from the Town's Membrane Water Treatment Plant site. Arrange for leased
equipment and trailers to be returned to venders. Coordinate decommissioning
activities with the Town.
i
i
i
ECCV_ScopeOfwork.doc 4
