I
,
recommendations within range results in a 3.5 cfs recommendation. Averaging the two winter
flow recommendations within range results in a 2.1 cfs recommendation.
Hydrologic Data
After receiving the cooperating agency's biologic recommendation, the CWCB staff conducted
an evaluation of the stream hydrology to determine if water was physically available for an
instream flow appropriation. The hydro graph below was derived from data collected by the
USGS stream gage for La Garita Creek near La Garita, CO (ill #08231000), which has a
drainage area of 61 square miles (See Gage Summary in Appendix C). The period of record for
this gage was 1919 to 1943 (irrigations season only), 1943 to 1981 and 1998 - 2001, the period
of record used by staff in their analysis was 1919 to 1943 (irrigations season only), 1943 to 1981
and 1998 - 2001, or 66 years of record. Table 2 below displays the flow of La Garita Creek in
terms of a percentage of exceedence.
Table 2: La Garita Creek at Gage.
ExceedenCes Januarv FeblUarv March ADriI Mav June July Auaust Sept.........
