f
Industry will undoubtedly develop less intrusive means of extracting gas from the land.
In twenty years technology may very well develop to a point where gas can be extracted
from the Vermillion Basin by means that would have far less impact than those available
today. It is difficult to imagine a scenario where the gas resource would diminish in
quantity or value. The existing permitted and leasable areas will allow for gas drilling to
occur throughout the majority of the high and medium potential gas resources within the
Little Snake planning area. We owe it to future generations to set aside places of
spectacular beauty and cultural value like the Vermillion Basin and the Department
strongly recommends that the current plan exclude the Vermillion Basin from drilling.
Thank you again for your courtesy. We respectfully request that the BLM include these
comments in the preferred alternative and look forward to working with you in the
management of the Little Snake Resource Management Area.
irSin -1
4.44, /
H.
