BRIEF NARRATIVE OF OTHER POTENTIAL SOURCES OF FUNDING <br /> In addition to our request for funding from the Colorado Water Conservation Board,we <br /> have explored the following sources: <br /> 1. Local drainage districts—Local drainage districts have provided some modest <br /> funds to support the project. They are listed below. We will be relying on <br /> substantial in-kind support from drainage district boards and possibly some <br /> equipment support for manhole excavations and the installation of monitoring <br /> wells associated with some of the research tasks. The following districts <br /> provided dollar pledges: <br /> a. Wiley of Big Bend Drainage District- $300 <br /> b. Granada Drainage District- $250 <br /> c. Kronman Drainage District-$250 <br /> d. Lubbers Drainage District - $300 <br /> 2. Cities and towns—The City of Lamar wrote a letter of support for the project. <br /> It is likely that we will be able to use some city equipment. This will have to <br /> be explored once the study is underway. <br /> 3. Federal agencies—a letter of support was written by the Natural Resources <br /> Conservation Service. NRCS cannot endorse research studies,but members <br /> of the Las Animas and Lamar field office staff have indicated that they will <br /> help out in any manner permissible by their agency mission. We are <br /> anticipating some equipment assistance from the Bureau of Reclamation,but <br /> we have not spoken to them about the study. We only understand that BOR <br /> has been supportive of past studies conducted by Colorado State University. <br /> We are hoping that one of the federal agencies can help us with equipment <br /> needs. This will be explored. <br /> 4. County government—we have had excellent exchanges with county <br /> governments, and one County Assessor's Office provided a letter of support to <br /> the study. We will explore this avenue of additional support, once the study is <br /> underway. <br /> 5. Colorado State University—CSU salary indirect cost. CSU is cost-sharing <br /> salary and the associated indirect cost. The value of this indirect cost sharing <br /> is $29,457. <br /> 6. Colorado State University—An additional grant to Dr. Terence Podmore and <br /> Dr. Ramchand Oad,received from the Agricultural Experiment Station,will <br /> be used to fund a graduate student in civil engineering. This student will be <br /> assigned to activities associated with water measurement at the beta drainage <br /> system. Discussion of these activities are described in the scope of work (see <br /> Full Project Description and Scope of Work). <br />
