In consideration of efforts the Lookout
Mountain Water District (District) has made towards improving the conditions at the
dam and through their emergency action planning activities to raise awarness of the
dam with downstream residents, the Branch has refrained from issuing a reservoir
storage restriction. However, in order to provide the owner a clear path toward
completing improvements to the dam to address all dam safety deficiencies, the
attached compliance plan (Plan) has been developed in cooperation with
representatives of this office, the dam owner and their engineer.
This Plan has been negotiated by both parties and approved by the District Board via
email on Feruary 4, 2016. Failure to perform in accordance with the attached Plan by
the associated deadlines will prompt the State Engineer's Office response shown in the
Plan. The District's required actions in the Plan are the minimum that you can do to
improve the safety of your dam; additional actions may be necessary based upon the
recommendations of your Engineer or discovery of new information. Immediate
actions may be required by our office if the condition of the dam worsens in the
interim, or if hydrologic events occur that threaten the safety of the dam or the
downstream public.
The District has sought financial assistance from the Colorado Water Conservation
Board (CWCB) to increase the storage capacity of their Upper Beaver Brook Reservoir,
1313 Sherman Street, Room 821, Denver,Co 80203 P 303.866.3581 F 303.866.3585 www.water.state.co.us (
+ , %*i
