River Protection Working Group Public Process Phases <br /> (second draft, 12/3/07) <br /> Phase One—Gettina Started <br /> (emphasize no decisions/recommendations will be made in this phase) <br /> • Introductions <br /> > Overview of a map of the rivers/streams in the region (warm up) <br /> ➢ Relay River Protection Working Group: history, purpose, work <br /> products, members, relationship.to USFS/BLM Management Plan and <br /> Government Roundtable, etc. (emphasize 2 broad objectives) <br /> ➢ Set Tone: a) collaboration; b) real community/ public involvement and <br /> process (this is not a 'one deal; c) consensus building; d) avoiding <br /> position-along and polarization; e) everyone is welcome and anyone <br /> who comes to the meetings has a voice and is a participant <br /> > Process and Meeting(s) Parameters: <br /> • relay reasons for convening, process"road map", hopeful <br /> outcomes; <br /> • explain scope and format for the meetings/process; <br /> • explain reasoning for stakeholders! attendees' invitations and <br /> determine additional invitees; <br /> • relay participant expectations and develop group ground rules; <br /> • give definition of consensus and how it will be used; and <br /> (check out how the group feels about the above points and move on <br /> from there) <br /> ➢ Hand out content information on Selected Stream/River including a <br /> two-page Fact sheet with a map.
